A Couple Of Cards

I hope everyone had an amazing Valentine's Day! We had a really sweet time here at my house. To make the day even sweeter, I made several different cards for friends and family with my Hearts A Flutter kit and add on. I thought it would be neat to share them as my project post today.

On this card, I fussy cut another doily and popped it up to give the card dimension. I used Maya Mist to spray the chipboard heart, and I stamped part of my sentiment in the lower left hand corner. The white crochet flower came from my stash.

I designed this entire card around the super cute tabbed embellishment. I covered one of the big chipboard hearts with paper and then inked the goodness out of it! Once the ink was dry, I tied it up with a cute little bow. This card went to my husband because the sentiment was just perfect for our relationship.

As you'll see on this card, I'm on a complete twine kick lately. I tied this heart with twine too, but before I finished the knot I added a little button to the center of it. I used my Cuttlebug to emboss the swirls on the bottom of the card. I love that thing!

Feel free to lift any of my cards! They don't have to be Valentine cards. I find that making cards is a GREAT way to use leftover scraps from your kits.

Thanks for stopping by today to read this post!

A Few Cards On Sunday!

Happy Sunday everyone! Jessica J. here with a few cards using the Heats A Flutter kit. My oldest child had a dance competition last week and I gave her this card right before she went backstage to let her know she is loved and we are so very proud of her.

I inked the edges  of all the paper pieces with black chalk ink and then covered the smallest of the chipboard hearts with black chalk ink as well. Super easy!

Since Valentines day is long gone I wanted to keep my cards focused on things unrelated to the holiday of love. The next card is also for another special reason coming up in our family's life. But...in order to share it with you I need all of you to keep a secret? Can you do it? OK, my Scraptastic secret keepers.....

We are surprising our kids with a trip to Disneyworld this spring!!!!! Keeping this secret is killing me! It feels so good to tell someone. I made the following card as part of the surprise.

I plan on filling a suitcase with red, black, white and yellow balloons. It will sit in my living room. When the kids wake up in the morning they will find it. I know my kids very well, they will not be able to contain themselves and will open it.  When it opens all the balloons will fly out. Tied to one of the balloons will be this card. Inside....

I will write "Surprise!!! We are going to Walt Disney World Today!!!!!!!"I sure hope we get some cool parent points for this one.

I used the pop dots that I got free with my kit and covered them with glitter. A combo of two small and one large make the perfect Mickey Mouse shape.(A tip I learned when making them: sprinkle on the glitter, then press it in with your finger, then shake off the rest that did not stick)

And because I was on a Disney themed kick I made an extra card featuring Minnie Mouse.

That's all I have for you! Have a fantastic day!!!!!!

You Make The World A Better Place To Be

Another Monday means another inspirational post from me. Hi everyone! It's Heather, and I'm back with a new layout I created from the Hearts A Flutter kit and add on. If you remember the hexagon layout I made, you'll recognize the negative cut on this page. I'm a big fan of using as many scraps as I can, so I thought it was really neat to be able to work it into the design of my page.

I have some detail shots to share as well. I loved the sentiment on the die cut and I knew right away that I wanted to use it as the title on my page. It was too perfect to pass up!

I matted the polka dot flower on a doily that I fussy cut out of one of the patterned paper pieces. I also added hexagon journaling spots to fill in some of the missing pieces of the negative diecut.

I used a few word strips and a tiny scrap of ribbon on the upper left side of my design to balance the page. A cute button tied with twine finished everything off!

I hope you all have a very happy, scrappy day!

Engaged Layout

Hello Scraptastic readers! This is Jessica with a very special layout featuring Hearts A Flutter to share with you today. I will give you a little back story.....

So, I knew that my  boyfriend had the ring. In true Scrapbooker fashion I lugged around my DSLR camera with me everywhere I went just in case he popped the question! It came with me to PTA meetings, the grocery store and especially date nights. So, when he finally asked me I of course whipped out my camera for that perfect scrapbook picture.

Hearts A Flutter is the perfect kit to use these photos! Here is what I came up with......

The chipboard hearts that came in the Hearts A Flutter Kit are fantastic! I was able to use them as a doodling stencil along with my trusty black journaling pen.

I then added some ink splots with a paint brush and some ink refiller. Grabbed my pen and added a little journaling.

Have a wonderful day! I will be back next Sunday with more to share!

3rd February 2012 Challenge

Hi! It's Heather, and I'm back again with another challenge. There's a sketch involved, and the twist is to use hexagon shapes on your page. I've been seeing hexagon accents on pages all over the internet, and it's time to get trendy! There were several hexagon journaling spots in the "Hearts A Flutter" kit, so if you have that kit you already have a head start. This is the sketch I'd like you to use.

Here is my take on the page! I cut a bunch of hexagons out of one sheet of paper because I didn't want the patterns to overwhelm my photo.

I added some stitching and pop dotted some of the hexagons so I could add a bit more dimension to the page. I also included misting and some Dymo strips to complete the title.

Here's another close up view of the page so you can read the journaling if you would like.

This month's prize is the fabulous Year-O-Graphy collection from Simple Stories.

You have until February 29th at midnight to submit your entries to all of the February challenges. Please use the inLinkz tool below to submit your entry to the 3rd February 2012 challenge.

Silly Valentine Suckers

Another manic Monday means that I'm back to share my latest Scraptastic Club project with you! I absolutely loved the chipboard hearts that were in the Hearts A Flutter kit this month. I misted mine with shimmery red Maya mist and they turned out really pretty. I decided to use them on this page about two of my kids enjoying Valentine's suckers that were almost bigger than they were!

The title Thickers really stand out on the dark pink paper. I also added some tiny blue gems from my stash to add a little more sparkle to my page.

My favorite paper in this month's kit was the doily paper. I ended up fussy cutting quite a few doilies so I could use them to embellish my page. They really helped ground the embellishment clusters.

I cut the banner apart so the journaling card would show through and I used blue gems to hang it on the page. The little journaling card was perfect for my theme and a button tied with string finished one of the doilies with a fun detail.

I hope you all have a creative day!

New Sweetie

Hello everyone! I am Jessica, your guest designer for the month of February. My layout, New Sweetie, was made using the Hearts A Flutter kit.

I used the heart shaped chipboard as a stencil for my hand stitched hearts using some embroidery floss I borrowed from my daughters friendship bracelet stash. First I traced the hearts with a pencil then poked holes along the lines with my paper piercer. After that I stitched away using the back stitch method.

I was then inspired by the Starbucks coffee cup that they have out right now with the valentine theme doodles on them.

So I got out my trusty white pen and added some Starbucks inspired doodles.

Last but not least I wanted to give the Chipboard letters a little rougher texture so I took a nail file to them and gently rubbed off some of the finish.

Thanks for taking time to stop by and Have a Happy Valentines Day!

He Loves Me

Good morning everyone! It's Heather, and I am writing this post while watching the Superbowl. Actually, I'm not much of a sports fan so I'm watching the commercials. It keeps my hubby happy and that's the name of the game right? I'm pretty excited about the fact that I'll survive the end of the world because I drive a Chevy!  Ha.

I have a scrapbook page to share today! I used the Hearts A Flutter kit and add on. I loved all of the feminine details and the lovely color combination. I decided to scrap photos of the tulips that my husband gave me for Valentine's day last year.

The big die cut shape in the background was cut from the Cindy Loo cartridge on my Cricut machine. It's been getting a workout lately. I did a lot of inking with Tim Holtz distress ink in Black Soot.

The heart is matted on the big chipboard heart that came in the kit. I loved the subtle tone on tone polka dot effect on the Thickers. I got my Dymo Label maker out so I could create some quick journaling. I  also fussy cut a few flowers and placed them around the page as accents.

I hope that I inspired you to create today. Happy scrapping!

some scrappy inspiration.....

TGIF my Scraptastic friends!
Anyone have any big plans this weekend?
I have to work tomorrow morning, then take Declan to baseball tryouts, then I hope to scrap for the rest of the weekend in between cleaning the house. Maybe take the kids to a movie or bowling???

Today I'd like to share a couple of layouts that I finished up last weekend.

I used the Snow What Fun Kit and Add-On for this one. Since we don't get any snow here, I figured the next best thing would be pictures from December with the kids on Hilton Head. Bailey always likes to write "I Love Mommy" in the sand, so this time I got some good pictures of her doing it. I love the way it turned out! I did add the red letters for my title from one of the past kits.

For this one I used the Hearts A Flutter Kit and Add-On. I promise to try to have this be the last picture that I scrap from Bailey's photo shoot. I just can't help myself, I still have tons of them left, and they seem to go with everything :)

I hope that you all have a great weekend!
