november's member spotlight.....

Good morning my Scraptastic friends!
TGIF!!!!
:)

This morning I'd like to introduce you to Khristen Foss who is our Member Spotlight for November.

Hey Scraptastic friends, my name is Khristen Foss. I live in East Rochester, NH with my hardworking hubby, Eryk, and our three children Andraia (11), Rileigh (9), and Patryk (3).  Most of my layouts revolve around them, but occasionally I am inspired to work on my HUUUUUGE heritage project...I have acquired every photo from my mother's side of the family after the passing of my grandmother, and let me tell you, there are a LOT of pics to get scrapped...some dating back as far as the 1880's!!!!!  When I'm not scrapping or creating something out of paper for my Etsy shop, I am writing articles for blogs (yes, for money!) to earn some scrappy cash.  With 3 kids, there is always something going on, but when we have down time we love to explore our wonderful state.  It's definitely great to live in the Northeast...we have the mountains, the ocean, big cities, small towns, farms, and four seasons.  I love camping, hiking, swimming, running, needlepoint, reading, skiing, and the beach.  (I'd say we all love these things together as  family, but that would be a lie...my 11 year old is quite the complainer when we try to hike or do anything that requires physical activity.  She's becoming quite the lazy tween!)  I love getting my Scraptastic kit each month as everything is so perfect together, it always seems to inspire me to create each time I open that box :)  Currently, I design for the True XOXO Girls challenge blog, Dream Valley Challenge Blog, the Crafter's Companion Info Blog, and Crafter's Companion USA Challenge Blog, and am a past designer for the sketches4all forum.  You can keep up with my work at my own personal blog, Khristen's Craft Room.
Here are some projects that Khristen did with the Witching Hour Kit and Add-On.

Aren't those awesome???
I will be back later this month with Khristen's November projects, so be on the look out for that post!
:)

I hope that everyone has a great weekend!

A Recipe Challenge

Hey everyone! Happy Thursday!! Michelle here. Today, I am excited to tell you our GDT Aphra Bolyer and I are teaming up to present you today's challenge!! :)

So, what did we decide to do?? A Halloween recipe challenge!!!! With Halloween just around the corner and Jessica's kits being loaded with all kinds of fun goodies, we thought this would be a lot of fun.

Here is the recipe. Choose at least 3 items from the following list.
  • At least 3 pattern papers
  • a die cut
  • use at least 2 of the spiders
  • the Tim Holtz Stain
  • black gems
  • at least 1 chipboard piece
  • a spooky photo
  • twine
  • black, orange and white color scheme
Here is Aphra's...
What a great Halloween decor piece! I love how she used the TH Stain to stain her frame. It really pulls out the die cut piece. And how about those spiders!!! I like how she also added dimension to the outside with the twine and the little die cut "BOO".

Here is mine...
How do you like that spooky pumpkin face?! I distressed the edge of my word paper with a scissors then went around the edge with my TH stain. I used the opposite side of the big die cut. It couldn't be any more perfect for my title. I love all the different patterned papers Jessica put in this kit. The two lines work so well together! I love all the die cuts in this kit from Authentique! For a little added interest, I threw on some black gems.

Now, it is your turn. Go! Go create something fun and spooky for Halloween!!! You still have a few days!! I can't wait to see what you create!! Make sure you link your creation up at the end of this post by November 2nd for chance to win this month's prize!!

There is still time to play along with the past challenges! They are on the right sidebar.

Happy Scrapping and have a Spooktacular Halloween!!!!

who doesn't love a good scraplift?

Good morning my Scraptastic friends!
I hope that you're all having a great weekend so far :)

Today I'd like to share a layout from DT Heather Landry using the Witching Hour Kit and Add-On. For this layout Heather used up the scraps she had left over from the kit.....

When Heather first sent me this layout, I knew right away that I wanted to scraplift it with my leftover scraps.......

So the question is......who doesn't love a good scraplift?
Have a great day!

3rd October Challenge

Good morning ladies! It's Heather, and I am back again to challenge you this week. I know you all know by now that my favorite kind of challenge is a sketch challenge, but this week I'm going to add a twist to get you thinking and creating. Here is the sketch I'd like you to use...

It might look familiar! That's because it's based on my "Pumpkin Killers" layout that I made with the October Witching Hour kit and add on. It's a seriously cute kit, so if you haven't gotten your hands on one yet. Hurry!

Now here's the twist! I would like for you to use (or make) a dimensional embellishment on your page. Drag out the pop dots or the foam tape and let's see some depth! In my example page, I glued the bats down and then lifted and shaped the wings like they were flying off of the page.

Easy peasy right? I can't wait to see what you all come up with. Don't forget that you all are playing for an amazing prize pack this month that includes TWO Echo Park paper lines. See the first monthly challenge here for a preview of the prize and the rules for the challenges on the Scraptastic Club blog.

Please submit your entries below for the 3rd October challenge. You have until November 2nd at midnight. Please submit only one entry, per person, per challenge. Thanks!

Love this layout, it's so spooky that it's cute  :)
and I'm not sure what's up with Heather lately......I've been seeing some tilted pictures and paper from her lately, and I love it.....
I'm not sure if any of you noticed, but this layout was featured on the CK blog.....you can find it here.
Congrats Heather!!!
If you hop on over to Heather's blog today, you might just find a sketch for this layout, just saying!

Have a great day!

let's scrap our scraps.........

Good morning my Scraptastic friends.
Today, as I was finally cleaning off my desk to start working on the November kits, I found enough scraps of paper from each of the October kits to get another page for each kit scrapped.

Here's the first page that I finished today using the Witching Hour Kit and Add-On.....

I love how it turned out......so, maybe you should think twice before throwing out your scraps, or you could miss out on a cute page to add to your albums.

I'm still working on the scraps I found with the Blissful Sunshine Kit, but I'll show you what I'm working with. I matted each scrap with the cream cardstock from the kit........

I hope that you all have a great day!
I'll be back tomorrow with some more scrappy inspiration.

winner, winner chicken dinner.....and a new challenge

Good morning my Scraptastic friends!
First I wanted to say a huge thank you to all who submitted entries to our September challenges! Everyone did such a great job. I had a total of 34 entries (there's only one entry per challenge allowed, so for those of you who submitted more than one entry per challenge, I could only count one). So the lucky winner, chosen by random.org is........

#27 who by my calculations is
Kelly Shoaf
Congratulations Kelly!!!
Please contact me at contest@scraptasticclub.com about your prize!

So, who's ready for the first October challenge?
Me, me, me!!!!!!
So for this weeks challenge, I'd like you to do some sort of pattern on your paper.....here's my example.......

as you can see I chose to do a chevron pattern. If you'd like to do a chevron pattern, you can find the tutorial that I used here. You do not have to do a chevron pattern! Just any kind of pattern that you feel like doing!!!
I used the Witching Hour Kit for my layout.....and for those of you who are wondering about my title..I stole it from the movie Role Models. I wanted a funny title to go with my son's Gene Simmons picture!

So, you know the rules, you do not have to be a monthly subscriber to take part in the challenges. You do not have to purchase or use any of our kits! There is only one entry allowed per person per challenge. You will have until November 2nd at midnight to submit all entries to our October challenges. There will be a new challenge posted every Thursday! Also, please remember to link the actual post that has your challenge entry, not just link your blog. It makes it easier for us to find your entry, also please make sure to post that it's for our Challenge!

And before I go....I bet you all want to know what you're playing for this month?
This months prize will be not one but two collection kits from Echo Park.....
