Good morning my Scraptastic friends!
First of all, I wanted to give a big Thank You to all of the lovely ladies that sent in their work for the GDT call.......I received so many and it was a really hard decision for me to make (I had to get some help from my DT).
Let's take a look and see who the Guest Designers for September through April! (Yep, I extended it past December.)
So let's meet the lovely ladies.....
September 2011:
Let's welcome
Melissa Wilson!
Melissa. 30-something. Mother of One(Nicholas). Slightly Sarcastic. OK, extremely. Addicted to Paper. Love to take pictures. Love to read. Love Zumba. Love to make people laugh. Love being lazy. Love football. Love music...especially 80's.
Started scrapping 10 years ago when I was pregnant with Nicholas, although only became serious about it approximately 5 years ago. I love paper...definitely my favorite of the scrappy supplies! If I had to give up everything else, I'd be okay as long as I could keep my paper! Call me crazy, but I love the smell of a brand new pack of paper. Weird, I know :)
October 2011:
My name is Aphra, and I live down South in Louisiana with my Alaskan oil man Jeff and our two boys, ages 11 and 4. While my husband is tromping around in the Alaskan tundra for weeks at a time, I'm home working part-time at a doctor's office, chasing around two rowdy boys, cleaning up after our miniature dachshund Max, and staying up into the wee hours of the night scrapbooking.
I fell in love with this hobby back in 2000 when my oldest son was born, and I get more and more addicted with each new product release. It's my passion, my creative outlet, my sanity! Mostly, I create layouts of my family, but I also enjoy making cards, gifts, and decor. Honestly, I will use any excuse to get to scrapbook!
Hello, my name is Melanie Stanczyk. I live in Wisconsin with my husband Scott and our 3 children, Kaden, Khila, and Brandon. My family understands my passion/obsession for scrapbooking and because of that, they are my favorite subjects to scrap. Luckily, they are always willing to be photographed at any given moment!
I’m instantly drawn to pattern paper, buttons, and cute embellishments. My fingers are always covered in ink and glue; I guess that’s why I love this hobby! I like to use “unexpected” elements such as wood, fabric and vintage pieces. I take pleasure in spending extra time to add little details on my projects. I wish I could tell you my scrapbook style but the truth is I can’t decide. One day it fun and colorful and the next it’s distressed and vintage.
December 2011:
Let's Welcome
Izzy Anderson!
Hi from sunny North Carolina. I’m Izzy Anderson. I have been scrapbooking for two years, but have been creating in some capacity since I was a little girl. I am really blessed to have grown up among artistic people. Both my mom and dad made things with their hands and they got it from their parents. As a little girl, I made felt ornaments at Christmas, various needlework projects, handmade gifts and a wide variety of things with paper, glue, paints, wood and modge podge. Later, I became interested in beading and jewelry-making. After my son, now 2, was born I was introduced to scrapbooking. I am not sure how this hobby eluded me all these years, but I quickly found my passion for scrapbooking eclipsing all other crafts. Yet, I find I sometimes hark back to them on my pages, sewing a few stitches here, adding some beads there, or playing with paint. I love the way crafts can mix and mingle and I enjoy making cards and altered projects in addition to layouts.
I am really delighted to be part of this community and can’t wait to play with the Scraptastic kits, contribute to the blog and get to know you all.
January 2012:
Hi!! My name is Amanda Johnson. I live in a small town in southern Indiana with my wonderful husband and two beautiful daughters. I am blessed enough to be a stay-at-home mom and I love having the opportunity to be there with my girls as they grow and get all those important everyday moments captured with my trusty camera! =)
I started scrapping about 4 yrs ago when my oldest daughter was just a few months old. I had always loved taking pictures and this was a wonderful next step for me! I am not a crafty person by nature, so I was very surprised when I loved scrapping as much as I did! Now I love having that "me" time in my craft space, and I also love being able to share the albums and layouts I make with family and friends, and I love passing this wonderful love for creating onto my daughters.
February 2012:
Let's Welcome
Jessica Ball!
Hi I’m Jessica living the suburban life in Wisconsin. I live with the most amazing people. Doug is the man who holds my heart and keeps me sane. Grace (Gracie) is my super sweet oldest and an avid scrapbooker herself. Quintin (“Q”) is my middle child and gives me a run for my money but always keeps me laughing. Olivia (Livie) is the baby of the family and doesn’t want to miss a moment of anything; therefore she thinks napping and sleeping at night are out of the question.
I started scrapbooking shortly before my first was born as a way to tell her all that I wanted to say but she was not able to understand yet. I kept with it as a form of stress relief and a way to express my creativity. I also enjoy many other artsy things such as crocheting and photography. When I’m not getting crafty I love creating fun memories while on family vacations, date nights with Doug or just a nice night at home!
March 2012:
Let's Welcome
Madeline Fox!
Hi there! I'm Madeline Fox, wife and mother, savvy scrapbooker, paper arts addict, photography buff, social justice advocate, music junkie, foreign film fanatic, book aficionado, beach lover, chocoholic and would-be photo-journalist for National Geographic! I've been scrapping for over 9 years and absolutely love this constantly evolving art form. I enjoy combining patterns and colors, layering papers and embellishments, and am particularly fond of bingo cards, buttons and trim, pins, flowers, chipboard shapes and letters, tags, and bottle caps, which are sometimes seen as my signature embellishment! I call my style "organized collage", because the side of me that loves bright colors and straight lines seems to be in conflict with the side that loves casually placed ephemera, aging and distressing. This art form is important to me in so very many ways. It's a form of expression and a way to de-stress. I am preserving precious memories of our family of 7, while preserving sanity in these busy hectic days of mine! A quote from Pablo Picasso sums it up nicely. "Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life."
April 2012:
Let's Welcome
Barb Prendergast!
Hi! My name is Barb Prendergast, and I am a "life artist". I live in central Illinois with my husband of 27 years. We have four grown children, three children-in-law, and six grandchildren -- with another due in March. I'm a former newspaper reporter/editor and marketing director, currently substitute teaching in area schools and child care centers. Although I made cut-and-paste scrapbooks as a kid, I started "scrapbooking" when my husband gave me my first digital camera seven years ago and I discovered the scrap supply aisle at Walmart. I love scrapbooking because it allows me to express my creativity and use my writing and design skills, while preserving my family's history in a meaningful way. My favorite subjects to scrap are my family (what a surprise!), heritage photos, and those everyday moments that otherwise might be forgotten. I'm very excited to be a guest designer at Scraptastic Club!
Well there you have our GDT......I'm so excited to see what all of these lovely ladies come up with for their month!
