Use Your Stash - 3rd May Challenge

It's Thursday! That means a new challenge! Let's get right to it. Last week, I shared a LO using the Out of Print Scrapbook Kit. Well, this week I am continuing with that. There is a twist though.. you have to use buttons, brads and flowers on your LO. I know we all have plenty of those in our stash! I am bound and determined to use up my stash! Here is what I created...
I pulled the pinks and green from the Scrapbook kit to go with my photo of my daughter. I used a sketch from the talented Aphra Bolyer for this.
From the Scrapbook kit, I used the paper, of course, the brads and buttons.
From my stash, I found some paper flowers with the bling on them and some floss, as well as some thickers alphas for the title.
I am happy to say, I have just bits left of this kit! Yay!!

Now, go! Dig through your stash and see what you can come up with! :) Make sure to link your project back to this post. I would love to see what you created. Plus, you will get a chance at the prize for May. You have until June 6th at midnight.

Spring Flowers

Happy Wednesday! Michelle here... back to share another project. This weeks project was made with the Faded Jeans Scrapbook kit and add on. Originally, when I saw the sneak of this kit, I immediately thought of pages completely different than what I have been making. Upon receiving my kit and immediately tearing into it, looking through the contents, I changed my mind. The feel of this kit lead me in a different direction. Have you ever done that? See a kit and think of things, then once getting it, go a totally different direction? Today's project is all about spring and time spent together, my little family and I. The photos couldn't be anymore perfect.
See? These were just screaming to be used with this kit. The blues in the photos with the little pop of yellow from my daughter's scarf and my son's shovel, it matches so well. I used a sketch from Jana Eubank. I am just feeling so stuck with all of the 4x6 photos. So, sketches to the rescue. I used the yellow liquid pearls and filled in the centers of the shapes with it. I dug through my stash looking for more flowers, feeling they were the appropriate embellishment being they are planting flowers.
I used the OA sprinkler and colored one of my paper flowers, then taking a glimmer mist and coloring that a pale yellow. I borrowed some letters (again swapping products from the other kit) for my title. I used the clear tiny letters from the Out of Print kit. A punched butterfly with a gem to finish off my title area. Some pen stitching and layered stickers at the bottle of the LO finish it up.

I hope this has inspired you to think of different possibilities you can use your monthly scrapbook kits with.

It's a Card kind of day..

Happy Wednesday! Michelle here. I am back to share with you some more of my May projects.

First of all, aren't May's scrapbook kits fabulous?!!! I could not resist and purchased the other one and both add-ons. I love them both! :) I don't think there are very many left in the store. So, if you would like to get your hands on one, grab it/them now while you can!

Today, I am sharing with you two cards, one from each kit. The first one I made with the Faded Jeans kit. I spotted Kimber McGray's sketch on her blog and decided to play along. This is my take...
I took it pretty literal. I love the layers she had. So I punched the teal paper and the corners of the floral paper and inked them both. Some pen stitching (which was an afterthought after I had my buttons down LOL), threaded buttons with the twine. I tried stacking the middle on top of the others to give it more dimension. The elements sticker sheet had a great friend phrase on one of the stickers... perfect for a card!!
Here is a different angle.

This next one, I made with the Weathered Spring monthly scrapbook kit. I was inspired by something I pinned on Pinterest. Have you jumped onto the Pinterest bandwagon? :) This is what inspired me. I loved the quilt look with the sewing on her papers and the pinwheel in the center. Here is what I came up with.
I pulled out my Slice machine and cut the flower and its shadow, and layered it with some foam adhesive. I dug through my stash of buttons and threaded it with some twine. Lot of pen stitching on my squares I cut into triangles and re-pieced back together.
Here is a different angle for this one as well.

I am not much of  a card maker. I usually don't enjoy making cards, but this time, it was fun. :) I hope I have inspired you some to go out and make a few scrapbook cards.

Happy Scrappin'!

Hello there..

Happy May! Can you believe how fast the time is flying by?? I can't believe this year is pushing close to the half way point. Today, I am here to share with you my first Page with the Weathered Spring Scrapbook kit and add-on. There are only a few left!! Grab one quick before they are gone!

I am really enjoying playing with this one. I love the soft color palette. It lends itself very nicely with my black and white photos. Take a look...
I think this is my new favorite page. I just love these photos of my sweet boy. He was giving me all kinds of faces while I took his picture on Valentine's Day earlier this year. I played around with a PageMaps sketch, flipping it to make it work for me. I took the Handsome tag from the Faded Jeans scrapbook kit (yes, I had to get both! :) ) as it was SO fitting for my photos of my boy. I also borrowed a tag from the Faded Jeans kit for some hidden journaling as well. I love that you can mix and match scrapbook kits. ;)
I love the little banner stickers in the monthly scrapbook kit. I popped them up and even gently flipped the tips for some added dimension. The twine and gems finish it off nicely.
Here is my title. I took the gray Liquid Pearls and dotted it along the top. I added the die cut piece for an extra little something for the title, along with some pen stitching around my cardstock.
I finished off my visual triangle with a few more stickers and die cuts.

Well that is it for me today. I am off to spend some quality time with that sweet boy.

Happy Scrappin'!

Use Your Stash Challenge

Hey everybody! Challenge day! Time for a new challenge. Today, I thought I would do something different. I have a backlog of kits piling up here. I know from talking to others, I am not the only one. So... I decided for this challenge, I would dig out a past kit of Jessica's and dig through some others, using bits from other kits as well. I also dug into my personal stash.

Here is what I made.I decided to use the Out of Print kit Jessica did awhile back. I want to say this was last fall? I have had this photo sitting out for quite some time now. This was from Easter, 2005 or 6. I need to do some digging to find out for sure. I used a Page Maps sketch I saved.

Some details shots...

The polka dot bracket is from the Birthday Bash kit. ;) Prima flowers and brads from my stash.I also did some hand sewing on my page too. I do have a sewing machine, but do not use it on paper.

So... the challenge if you so choose to take it....

Use an older kit that you have in your stash. The twist, add some sewing - hand, sewing machine or pen stitches to your page.

You have until May 2, 2012 to complete your project to be in the drawing for the April prize.

picnic on the patio.....

Happy Hump Day! Michelle here stopping by to share with you a LO I made with the Feel Pretty kit. I love the soft color palette of this kit. It is perfect for my spring photo of many years ago. Spring is definitely in the air where I live, so I felt it only fitting to scrap a spring photo. This one matches so well with the kit. Being it is spring, I have a ton of stuff going on at home. To make putting my LO together quicker, I used a sketch from this month's Page Maps.
I love the mix of letters in this kit.
The Pebbles flowers are so fun. I punched a few butterflies and added some liquid pearls to the middle. I pulled the brown twine from my stash.
Here is another flower. I added some liquid pearls to the hearts on the sticker for some extra dimension. I added some pink twine from the kit for some extra texture.

Thanks for stopping by! I will be back tomorrow with a challenge. :)

Happy Birthday

Happy Wednesday!!! Michelle here today. I am here to share with you my first project with my new Feel Pretty kit and add-on. This kit has a great springy feel. I love the colors.. so fun to play with. There are just a couple left!! Grab them while you can!

My kit came just in time, a few days before my middle's birthday. I am really not much of a card maker, but I am liking having handmade cards for my kids and hubby. I save all the ones I make for my little family. :) I think they like it too. I love how soft and girly my card is. It is so very fitting for my middle child, as she is very girly. I am loving the banners still. I dug through the few stamps I have and inked half at a time as to split up the birthday message to make it fit the layered sticker. I pulled out my pink and white crinkle ribbon and a button from my stash, added a little twine from the kit. I added some faux stitching for some added interest. I saw something on the net a long while back that inspired my card. I don't remember where to give credit. I didn't save that info.
I popped up my scallop circle with some foam adhesive. I just love the dimension and texture on here.

I love how pretty it turned out. Hopefully, she will like it too. I will be back next week with another project. Until then, Happy Scrappin' and thanks for stopping by.

Happy Day

Happy Wednesday, that is!! I hope your week has started off well.

I just wanted to share one last project I made with the Be Amazing kit and add on. I used some scraps from my pages and made this quick card. The hexagons are all the rage right now. I loved the chip piece that was in the kit. I layered it with some scrap hex paper, the happy day banner. The little bee was the perfect embellishment. :) I punched a few butterflies with the cardstock and patterned paper then added a half pearl from my stash that I had been using on previous projects to finish it off.

I now have another card to add to my stash to send off to a friend. :)

I hope you are having a very happy, scrappy day!! Thank you for stopping by!!

8th Grade

Happy Wednesday! I am here to share my last LO I made with the Be Amazing kit. How fast the years go with our children. You bring home this precious bundle, then blink! They are starting kindergarten. You blink again and they are heading into high school. I know I am going to blink and she will be graduating. I can't believe my oldest has been out of high school six years almost. So I know it will go fast!

This page is about how proud I am of her. She is a great student. No homework battles. Actually, I am not all that involved. I don't need to be, unless she needs help with an assignment.I love how well, again, this matches! The teals in the kit go so well with the photos!!!
I did play around with the OA sprinkler in the kit. I love the spatters!!
I layered the "school rules" banner on top of the MME banner piece. The tags were perfect for anchoring my title.
I love the wordy chip piece. I love the message it says. I used one of my itop punches to punch a sun, if you will then adding a button threaded with some twine. Of course, a little butterfly to finish off the corner.

Not exactly a school kit. But, it worked great for my girl's first day of school photos I took. Thanks for stopping by!

Thursday Challenge

Hello everyone! Michelle here. It is my turn to challenge you this month. :)

Spring is in the air here. I love the renewed feeling spring brings. Birds migrating back, things blooming, the pretty colors of new blooms. This month, I had the Be Amazing kit and add-on to work with. Might I just say, it was nothing short of amazing! Don't you agree? I love the blue and yellow combination. It is so pretty. With that being said, I thought it would be fun to do a color challenge.

Here is your color palette to work with. If you don't have the Be Amazing kit, no worries. You can use your your own supplies. :)
(source)

Here is my example.
I love the tags that were in this kit. I also wanted to try my hand at doing something different with them. I love seeing all the different tags around the web. This is my attempt. It feels very springy to me. :) I love how this turned out. I punched some teal cardstock. I cut a piece of patterned paper to fit. The polka dot paper is from my stash, as well as the doily and crinkle ribbon. I loved the big butterflies in the kit and knew I was going to use it. Looking through the chipboard, I had to use the banner piece. Because it kind of glows and to add that visual triangle, I thought the teal word piece was fitting. :) I added a brad for a little extra dimension and texture.

So there you have it!! Now, it is your turn. See what you can come up with with the color palette. I can't wait to see. And if you want to challenge yourself a little more, try and make something you usually don't. It is fun to see what we can do if we push ourselves out of our comfort zone a little.

You have until April 4th, to link your project to the inlinkz tool below. The prize this month is a $20 gift card to Scraptastic Club's Store.

Happy Scrapping!!

Minnehaha Falls

Michelle here. I am excited to share with you another project I made with the Be Amazing kit and add-on. I think this is my favorite kit yet!! I just love the soft, calming color palette. It has fit so well with some family photos that I have scrapped thus far.

This next page is no exception. This kit and photo were a match made in heaven. :) I love how this came together. I love the mix of patterns. I punched the border of my carstock for to add a little extra interest to my page, as well as all the pen stitching.

For the title, I wanted a sun to go with those clouds. Well, who says you can't alter a die cut piece to work for you! :) I took the scalloped die cut piece and trimmed it to look like a sun! Layer a few clouds, add a title and a butterfly, and viola!
When I saw this chip piece I knew I had to use it. The saying went so well with my photo as we were walking a city park one evening last summer. It was truly a lovely day. ;) I added a few half pearls from my stash to finish it off.
More layered die cut pieces with a threaded button and half pearls from my stash to balance out my embellishments.

This kit has been perfect for scrapping my family photos. I hope you are able to find some time to scrap those memories!!!

Little Boy

Happy Humpday! Michelle here. I am back to share another LO I made with the Be Amazing kit and add-on.

This kit is one of my favorites, I think. Well, for now anyway.. until the next one comes out. ;) I just love this color palette and these MME papers!!! Gorgeousness. This time, I made a LO with an old photo my husband and I found while going through his father's belongings this past summer. I am guessing my father in law wasn't very old. I used the sketch from My Minds Eye.
I took cue from Melanie and pulled the top layer off of the journal chip piece. :) I just love the layered stickers!
I cut some of the doilies out in the one sheet and added it along with the chip piece. The sticker letters are from my stash.
I popped up the playful piece. That piece just fits my father in law's personality. He was playful... an unmerciful tease. I added a few pieces to balance out my corner.

Thank you for stopping by. I hope wherever you are, the weather is as nice there as it has been here! It's a rarity to have high 60's temps here in west central Wisconsin this time of year.

These Moments...

Happy Friday!! Michelle here. I am so excited to share with you my first page with my new Be Amazing kit and add on. I just LOVE this kit. I love the color palette. LOVE IT!! It is so calming I think. I mean, how can you not love blues and greens together? :)

Ok.. here is my page..I found the perfect photo for this. I love how well it goes with the kit. I cut my title using my Slice. I think me and my Slice are going to have words!! LOL It has a new blade in there, but for some reason didn't want to cut my title out again on the kraft card stock. So I had to change my title. If it doesn't watch out, it's going to be replaced with a Silhouette machine! LOL Back to my page... I used a sketch from this month's new batch of sketches from PageMaps.

I added some Jillibean pins from my stash. The green card stock base is also from my stash. I added some pen stitching to opposite corners for a little extra added detail.

I love the layered stickers in this kit. It was perfect for covering up some people standing at the other end of the bridge. :) I wanted to pull the darker teal up creating that visual triangle, so I used some pearls I had.

How pretty is that little butterfly?! I used some pieces from my Button Box kit. The family sticker and that tone on tone piece with the loopy/flourishy pattern. It reminded me of waves, and being we were down on the Mississippi River; well, it was just calling to be used. I love how well Jessica's kits can mix together.

I think this is my new favorite page. I am going to hang it down in my scrap room on my CM display frame. :)

Thanks for stopping by!!

Puppy Hugs

Happy Leap Day!!! The last day of the month, and boy it flew by.

I wanted to share another page I made with my A Boy's Life kit and add-on. I had so much fun with this kit this month. Like I said before, it was like it was made for me. I could seriously buy another (but they are sold out). I completed a total of 6 single paged layouts and a card, and I still have goodies left over!

My page....Puppy Hugs... This photo was too cute (and the story which is documented on the back is even more sweet). I had fun putting this together. I used a sketch from Creative Scrapper's. It had a large circle on it, and I opted to trade it out for the back-stitched heart. I used my Plantin cartridge and my Gypsy to elongate my heart some. I cut it out with my Expression and used that as a template to punch my holes for my back-stitching. The gray and teal cardstock are from my stash.
I cut my puppy out using one of the puppies on my Create a Critter cartridge and some scraps of card stock from my stash. The chipboard hearts are from my stash. I did use some Adirondack paint from a past kit of Jessica's to paint them. Once dry, I covered them with some glossy accents.
A close up of the sewn heart and chipboard hearts. Brings me back to my many years of making cross stitched projects, prior to scrapbooking. I did add a faux sewn border for a little more detail.

It is a simple page (I say that a lot don't I). But, I do love that the focus is on my photo. The story is on the back, as I had a lot to say and didn't want to make it busy with all kinds of paper strips with my journaling.

I hope you like this as much as I do. If you haven't already, try some back stitching on your page. It is really simple to do.

Thanks for stopping by!

Last challenge for the month

Hello everybody!! Can you believe the month is almost over??? I certainly can't.

Michelle here to bring you the last challenge for the month of February. Every now and then, Jessica puts those fun mists in her kits. They are not something I use all that often, which led me to this challenge. I know there are others out there they have a good collection of all the different mists; be it the sprinklers, glimmer mists, Mr. Huey's, right? I can't be the only one. Please tell me I am not the only one. ;)

So... dig through your bottles of mists! See what you can come up with! Spritz them, splatter them, you could even paint with them. Use them on a layout, card, project of your choice.

Here is mine...

I love how this came out. It adds just a little extra something and gets me using another one of those supplies that I seem to collect and not use as often as I should. ;) So, go! Go have fun getting all messy! I can't wait to see what you make!

Don't forget, this month's prize is Simple Stories Year-O-Graphy collection.

You have until February 29th at midnight to submit your entries to all of the February challenges. Please use the inLinkz tool below to submit your entry to the 3rd February 2012 challenge.

Big Ideas

Happy Wednesday! Michelle here. I am back to share more of my projects with the Boy's Life kit and add-on.

Another page of my sweet boy. He once told me he had big ideas and a big imagination. He wasn't kidding. He has the most vivid, creative imagination. I love that about him.

I pulled some card stock from my stash, as it worked better with my photos. I also added the blue striped paper from the Summer Star kit from this past summer. I love when you can mix kits. The airplane border strip couldn't have been anymore perfect!!! I love the little word stickers on the element sheet of stickers. I punched a hole and added floss from one of Jessica's past kits as well. I like the little bit of added texture. The smash tab.. oh what a great piece for these pics as well. My sweet boy really does inspire me. I tell you, this kit was just made for me, it feels like anyway. :)

I had fun making this page and I hope you found something from this that inspires you.
Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Scrapping!

Happy Humpday!! It is Wednesday again already. These weeks are just flying by. I can't believe it is the middle of February already.

I am back to share another page I made with the A Boy's Life kit and add-on. This kit was just so fun to work with. It couldn't of been any more perfect for my photos. I had a ton of photos that worked with it too. It was hard to choose which ones to use!

My sweet boy... he is a funny boy. The things that he comes up with. Well... take a look...

That piece that he is holding onto is a plastic piece of wood from his toy tool kit. He put the play nail in there, held it up to his face and said it was his propeller. :D Too funny to not capture and record. I used a sketch of Shimelle's. I used a piece of navy cardstock from my stash to pull more navy in to go with my photo. I just had to use the Watch Me bubble for the title and some green October Afternoon alphas from my stash. I wanted the rest of my title on the smaller side and not detract from the word bubble. I thought the word stickers at the bottom of the photo were oh so appropriate! :) A few border stickers, some gems from my stash and some pen stitching to add a little more interest, and viola! A simple page. But, this boy keeps me busy with his crazy antics. :) Scrapping time is at a premium here. Still, I am happy with the end result. I captured a great moment, all these funny little things that would otherwise be forgotten in years to come.

Well, this is it for me today. I hope you have a great day. Thanks for stopping by.

Happy Scrappin'!

Happy Wednesday! Michelle here. I would like to share a LO I made with the Boy's Life kit and add-on.

My page...

My son is really into building things. So we bought a premade kit from the home improvement store. Some good quality time spent with his father. The colors in this kit couldn't be anymore perfect for these photos. I used the cog border strip. I thought it was fitting being they were working on a project, as well as it matches my husband's sweatshirt. My page was inspired by a sketch I saw online awhile back, but can't remember where.

I used one of my itop punches to use behind here to bring some of the white to this side of the page.

I added some gems from my stash and did a little pen stitching around my page. I went through last year's Summer Star kit and pulled a few of the MME elements that I had left to use on my page.

I will be back next week with another project to share!

Happy Scrappin'
